How to transfer data from an iPhone or iPad to a new Galaxy device with Smart Switch
Switch to Samsung Galaxy with ease using Smart Switch. Designed to transfer your photos, videos, contacts, messages, apps and settings from your iPhone or iPad to a Galaxy device quickly and securely. Smart Switch organises your content automatically so you can start using your new Galaxy device with minimal effort. Follow the below steps to start the transfer with a cable or wirelessly.

Please note:
- Passwords and Apple Keychain data are not transferred via Smart Switch.
- Although Apple-owned apps such as Apple Music cannot be transferred, they can be downloaded again on Android.
How to transfer data (cable)
When you turn on your Galaxy device for the first time, you will see a welcome page. Select your preferred language and tap “Next” > Read the terms and conditions and tap “Next”.

Tap “iPhone® or iPad®”. Choose a Wi-Fi network, set your Google account and the SIM card you would like to use and get started with Smart Switch.
Please note: You can continue without signing in to your Google account, though signing in will log you into all Google services.
Step 1: Copy
Tap “Next” > Read the apps and data transfer agreements and tap “Agree” > Tap “Allow” to accept the required Smart Switch permissions.
Please note: If you select “Don’t copy” or “Skip”, then no data will be copied over – only pre-installed apps will be available.
Step 2: Connect
Tap “Cable” > Tap “Next”. Connect your new Galaxy device to your old iPhone or iPad with a Lightning-to-USB-C or USB-C-to-USB-C cable. When the “Trust this computer?” alert appears on your iPhone or iPad, tap “Trust”. Then, on your Galaxy device, tap “Next”.
Step 3: Transfer
Please wait while your Galaxy device searches for data to transfer. Once found, choose the data you want to bring over from your old device and tap “Transfer”.
Please wait while Smart Switch transfers the data. Do not disconnect the cable. When the transfer is complete, tap “Next”.
iMessage / iCloud
If you want to transfer all your text messages from your iPhone, it is recommended to turn off iMessage. You can also import data saved on iCloud. To do this:

Download and open Smart Switch on your iPhone or iPad. Tap “Continue” > Allow permissions > Tap “Let’s go” > Tap “Wireless” > Tap “Next”.
Please note: Smart Switch must be downloaded on your iPhone or iPad to proceed. If a QR code is shown, scan it to download and open Smart Switch.
Step 3: Transfer
Please wait while your Galaxy device searches for data to transfer. Once found, choose the data you want to bring over from your old device and tap “Transfer”.
Please wait while Smart Switch transfers the data. When the transfer is complete, tap “Next”.
iMessage / iCloud

Why haven’t all my photos transferred?
You may notice that only some of your photos transferred. If your iPhone uses iCloud Photos with Optimise Storage, many photos are stored only in iCloud, and not locally on the device. Smart Switch can only copy photos that are physically on the iPhone during transfer. To solve this:
How to back up my WhatsApp data
If you wish to move WhatsApp to your new Galaxy device, we recommend that you first backup your WhatsApp data to iCloud Drive:
Open Settings > Open your profile > Tap “iCloud” > Tap “Saved to iCloud” > Tap “WhatsApp”
Open WhatsApp > Tap “Settings” > Tap “Chats” > Tap “Chat backup” > Tap “Back up now”
